Yellow Alert For Heatwave Issued In Four Bihar Districts, Temperatures To Rise By 3°C

Almost all districts of South Bihar and the central and eastern parts of North Bihar are likely to experience a further increase in temperature, leading to severe heat conditions.

Bihar is witnessing high temperatures and the mercury is rising steadily. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar and Gopalganj. Hot winds will blow, and humid conditions are likely to prevail.

In addition, almost all districts of South Bihar and the central and eastern parts of North Bihar are likely to experience a further increase in temperature, leading to severe heat conditions. According to the weather forecast, the temperature in most districts may rise by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three to four days. Some relief is expected in the eastern part of the state after four days. However, no relief is expected in South Bihar for now.

Temperatures Exceed 40°C In 12 Districts

On Wednesday, all districts in the state saw a rise in temperature. In nearly every district, the maximum temperature remained above 36°C. In 12 districts, temperatures crossed the 40°C mark. The highest temperature was recorded in Gaya at 42.3°C. In the capital city, Patna, the maximum temperature reached 41.2°C, an increase of 0.7°C.

Motihari recorded a maximum temperature of 41°C. People there endured severe heat throughout the day due to heatwave conditions. Similarly, maximum temperatures of 41°C were recorded in Valmiki Nagar, 40.9°C in Gopalganj, 40.8°C in Sheikhpura and Buxar, 40.6°C in Aurangabad, 40.3°C in Siwan, 40.2°C in Darbhanga, and 40.1°C in Chhapra and Bhojpur.

Even in districts like Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, Supaul, Araria, Saharsa, and Madhepura, where temperatures had been below 35°C in recent days, saw a noticeable rise on Wednesday. In Saharsa, the maximum temperature reached 39.1°C, while in Purnia it was 38°C, and in Katihar, it was 37.2°C.
