8 Guests Killed After Scorpio Returning From Wedding Collides With Tractor In Bihar's Katihar

Eight people were killed and two others were critically injured after a head-on collision between an SUV and a tractor in Bihar's Katihar, said the police on Tuesday. 

According to the police, the passengers in the car were returning from a wedding function when the accident took place near Sameli block office on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Efforts are underway to identify the victims, they added. 

"At least eight persons, all men, died and two others were injured when an SUV in which they were travelling collided head-on with a tractor coming from the opposite direction on the NH-31 near the Sameli block office," Katihar SP Vaibhav Sharma told PTI.

Upon learning about the incident, the police immediately reached the spot and rushed the victims to the nearest government hospital where eight people were declared brought dead, the police said. 

The two injured persons are undergoing treatment at the hospital, they added. 

As per the locals, the victims are residents of Supaul, Sharma said, adding that it is believed that all the victims were travelling in the SUV. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and further probe into the incident is underway, he added.
