Andhra Minister Narrowly Escape Accident

In another incident, Andhra Pradesh's Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Gummadi Sandhyarani, narrowly escaped an accident on September 12 when a police vehicle in her convoy struck another vehicle in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh.

The incident took place in Busayavalasa village, Ramabhadrapuram Mandal, while the minister was traveling from Salur to Mentada Mandal for a program.

The crash took place when an Eicher vehicle suddenly entered the main road, colliding with the police escort vehicle in the convoy, according to an IANS report.

Five police officers in the escort vehicle, including Armed Reserve Inspector V. Raman, Head Constable P. Sunil, Constables R. Ganapathy and C. M. Mahesh, and the driver, Constable A.V.V.S.N. Raju, were injured during the accident.

The minister’s vehicle, which was following closely behind, was brought to a sudden stop as her driver quickly applied the brakes, allowing her to avoid injury. Police attributed the accident to the alleged negligent driving of the goods van, as reported by The Hindu.

After the crash, Minister Sandhyarani stayed at the site to oversee rescue efforts and ensured that the injured policemen were transported to Tirumala Medicover Hospital in Vizianagaram.
