Bengaluru: Man Arrested For 'Aiding' 22 Pakistani Nationals To Settle In India

The case came to light after the recent arrest of four members of a Pakistani family at Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

Bengaluru news: The Bengaluru police have arrested a man named Parvez, accused of helping 22 Pakistani nationals settle in various parts of Karnataka by providing them with fake identities, including Hindu names, police revealed on Tuesday. Parvez allegedly assisted these foreign nationals in obtaining fraudulent documents to facilitate their stay in the state.

Pravez Ahmed was a native of Uttar Pradesh and he had been residing in Mumbai. “We have secured him and an investigation is going on,” police told PTI.

The case came to light after the recent arrest of four members of a Pakistani family at Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Following their interrogation, three more Pakistani citizens were arrested in the Peenya area of the city. The investigation expanded further to Davangere district, where authorities detained additional Pakistani nationals.

According to Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara, these individuals had been residing in India for the past decade with their presence in Bengaluru only becoming known a year ago. Parameshwara raised concerns over the failure of central intelligence agencies, including RAW and IB, to detect these activities earlier. "They also possessed fake Indian passports," the minister stated.

Praising the Karnataka police for their swift action, Parameshwara confirmed that more Pakistani nationals residing illegally in the state have been identified and will soon be arrested as the investigation continues. Parvez, the alleged mastermind behind facilitating these individuals' stay, is currently in police custody.

"They (Centre) have RAW, IB and other central agencies, they should keep an eye on these things. How they reached Bengaluru and got passports, shows the failure of central agencies. When our police got information they did an excellent job by arresting them. We got further information about some more Pakistani people staying here they will also be arrested," he said, as per ANI.
