Third Body Recovered From Beas River; Search For Missing Boy Continues

Three teenage boys from Punjab's Kapurthala drowned in the Beas on Baisakhi. One boy is still missing.

The body of another boy, who was reported missing a few days ago, has been found in Punjab's Beas (river). The boy, who drowned in the Beas, had gone with three of his friends for a swim in the river on Baisakhi (April 13).

The boys were presumably swept away by the strong currents of the river and were reported missing, reported news agency PTI. The bodies of three of the boys have been found so far, and the whereabouts of the fourth are unknown. A search is on to track him down. However, he, too, is feared to have drowned.

The police, though, said they will confirm the exact cause and circumstances of the deaths only after a post-mortem examination of the three bodies found so far.

The Beas originates from Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh and flows in south-westerly direction to meet the Sutlej River.

Man Drowns In Ganga

Sagar Negi, a resident of Nehru Colony in Dehradun, had travelled to Rishikesh with his friends for river rafting. However, during the activity, he fell into the water. His guide acted swiftly, pulling him out while he was unconscious and administering CPR. But Sagar could not be saved.

Police said that drowning was the likely cause of death, but investigators are probing how he fell and establishing the exact sequence of events. In charge Inspector Pradeep Chauhan of Muni Ki Reti police station said, "Only the post‑mortem report will reveal the actual cause and circumstances of death."

Woman Drowns While Shooting Reel

In another incident in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi, a woman lost her life while shooting an Instagram reel at Manikarnika Ghat along the Bhagirathi River on April 17. A video of the incident shows that she was posing for the camera when she slipped and was swept away by the current. Despite efforts to rescue her, the strong currents carried her downstream.
