Basti: Woman Flags Fault In Electricity Meter, Junior Engineer Spikes Her Drink & Rapes Her

The incident was reported to police after she put a CCTV camera in her house to capture the alleged assault. 

A junior engineer posted in the electricity department in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district allegedly raped a woman who approached him to check a "faulty" electricity metre at her house. The woman has alleged that the accused, Ravindra Kumar, spiked her drink, following which she became unconscious. She alleged that the junior engineer raped her and also made a video of the act to blackmail her.

The incident was reported to police after she put a CCTV camera in her house to capture the alleged assault. 

Case Registered Against The Accused

Deputy Superintendent of Police Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari said that he has received a complaint in this matter. A case has been registered against JE Ravindra Kumar and he has been arrested.

He added that he spoke to the Chief Engineer of the Electricity Department, SK Saroj, about the entire matter and a departmental inquiry has been ordered. After the report comes, strict action will be taken against the junior engineer, the police officer added.
