7 Andhra Cops Suspended For Providing 'VIP Treatment', Biryani To Undertrial

Andhra Pradesh news: In a controversial incident, seven policemen were suspended after allegedly providing VIP treatment and biryani to YSRCP leader Borugadda Anil, who was in police custody on remand. The accused, with multiple cases against him, was being escorted from Mangalagiri court to Rajahmundry Central Jail when the escort team stopped at a luxury restaurant in Gannavaram. At the hotel, Anil reportedly had a meal of chicken and mutton biryani.

The CCTV footage of this “royal treatment” surfaced sparking public outrage and raising questions on law and order in Andhra Pradesh. The incident was recorded by locals who reportedly faced intimidation by the police for filming. As the footage went viral, swift action was taken by DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, who ordered the immediate suspension of the involved officers.
Anil Kumar facing charges including assault and alleged insults against CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan was accompanied by an escort team led by RSI P Narayana Reddy and included several other constables. The other police officials included Head Constable K Srinivasa Rao, AR Constables T Shankara Rao, K Butchaiah, Tulluru Police Station Constables Bala M. Shauri among others, as per a report on Newsnine.
Previously, seven police officials were suspended after photos surfaced showing Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa receiving VIP treatment in jail. In the leaked images, Darshan is seen seated in what appears to be the jail’s garden area, holding a coffee mug in one hand and a cigarette in the other, alongside fellow inmates, including his manager Nagaraj and the well-known rowdy sheeter Wilson Garden Naga.
