1 Dead In Explosion Outside Amritsar's Decent Avenue, Police Suspect Terror Links

Police are investigating the cause of the blast. The injured individual is currently hospitalized and receiving medical treatment.

One person died as an explosion took place in Punjab's Amritsar on Tuesday, said the police. The explosion occurred outside Decent Avenue on Majitha Road Bypass and investigation is underway to determine the cause. 

The person, who was earlier reported to be critically injured in the blast was taken to a hospital for treatment.  

"We came to know about the incident, it happened near the bypass, at Majitha Road, a blast occurred there, one person was injured, and doctors are currently treating him...," said a police official, reported IANS.

The man was retrieving some explosive material when the blast happened, possibly due to mishandling, said Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Maninder Singh. 

The police are suspecting that the deceased might be linked to some terror organisation, the SSP said, reported PTI.
