Akhilesh Takes 'Caste Census' Jibe At Yogi Govt: 'Census To Start During PDA Govt'

Akhilesh Yadav was taking a dig at the Yogi Adityanath-led government, suggesting that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh would not last till March 2027.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday took a dig at the centre over the caste census, saying that the demographic survey will begin under the 'PDA' government in Uttar Pradesh.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister was taking a dig at the Yogi Adityanath-led government, suggesting that the BJP government would not last till March 2027.

The remarks come after sources said that the centre will start conducting the national census from March 1, 2027.

"It means the caste census will begin only when the PDA government comes to power in Uttar Pradesh," Akhilesh said in a post on X.

The national census, which is set to be conducted after 17 years, will be the country's 16th population census and the first under Narendra Modi's government.

‘PDA’ is a term used by Akhilesh Yadav to describe a unity rooted in shared awareness and resistance against the exploitation and oppression of the pichre (backward), Dalits, and alpashankhak (minorities).
