50-Year-Old Labourer From Madhya Pradesh Beaten To Death By Railway Police Inside Moving Train

The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Mathura took possession of the body, completed the Panchnama, and sent it for a postmortem examination.

A 50-year-old labourer was beaten to death by Government Railway Police (GRP) constables in the general coach of a moving train. The incident took place in the Gondwana Express between Agra and Mathura, when the victim, identified as Ramdayal Ahirwar, a resident of Palera in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, was going to Delhi for work with his son.

According to a report by NDTV, the son of the victim, identified as Vishal Ahirwar, boarded the general coach of the Gondwana Express with his father from Lalitpur on Monday after arriving by the Geeta Jayanti Express. Vishal and his father were headed to Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, from where they planned to travel to Palam village, where Vishal is employed.

The incident unfolded shortly after the train left Agra station. Vishal’s father had lit a beedi in the general compartment, prompting objections from GRP constables on board, who reportedly began beating him.

Official Inquiry Launched

Vishal, who had been asleep, was woken by the commotion and alerted by fellow passengers about the assault. Although he pleaded with the officers to stop, they reportedly continued to beat his father.

Witness recounted the incident, stating that Ramdayal was dragged by the constables from the general coach to the connected sleeper coach and continued assaulting him there. Following the deterioration of the health of Ramdaya, the issue was reported to Mathura's Railway Control Room.

When the train arrived at Mathura Junction, the constables allegedly disembarked with Ramdayal’s body and then departed, continuing on their way. A medical team was summoned, and the doctor present confirmed that Ramdayal had died on the spot.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Mathura took possession of the body, completed the Panchnama, and sent it for a postmortem examination. An official inquiry has been launched in response to the grave accusations made by the victim’s son.
