A 25-year-old junior doctor was allegedly raped by her colleague at an abandoned hostel in a government-run medical college in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. The woman was to appear for an exam and was staying in the hostel, City Superintendent of Police Ashok Jadon said.

The 25-year-old accused, who is also a junior doctor, has been arrested, PTI reported quoting police. The accused called her to meet at an old hostel for boys, which is now lying abandoned, the police said. There the man threatened and raped her, the official said.

Further investigation was underway into the incident, they added.

The incident comes months after a junior doctor was raped and murdered on the RG Kar Hospital premises in Kolkata on August 9. Following the Kolkata doctor's death, several allegations of evidence tampering, misreporting the crime, attempts to shield the accused, and corruption at the hospital arose.
