2 Dead In Gandhinagar Drunken Hit-And-Run Case; Driver In Custody

Two people were killed and three others injured after a speeding car struck pedestrians in Gandhinagar on Thursday morning.

Two people were killed and three others injured in a hit-and-run incident in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Thursday morning. The accused driver, identified as Hitesh Patel, was reportedly overspeeding and is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

According to police, the driver attempted to flee the scene after mowing down multiple pedestrians, but was quickly apprehended. He is currently in police custody, and further investigation is ongoing.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gandhinagar, Ravi Teja Vasamsetty, told reporters, “Around 10:30 am, the accused, Hitesh Patel, was seen overspeeding. He hit around five people with his car. Three are undergoing treatment, while two have died. The investigation is ongoing... the FSL team is on the spot,” as quoted by ANI.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to establish the exact sequence of events. Police are also working to determine the speed of the car and level of intoxication, and whether other violations contributed to the crash.
