BSE, NSE To Remain Closed For Two Days This Week. Check Timings Of Muhurat Trading

The muhurat trading on Diwali which marks the beginning of the New Year is believed to bring wealth and prosperity throughout the year

New Delhi: On the occasion of Diwali, the stock exchanges will remain closed for two days this week according to the list of stock market holidays 2021 mentioned at the official BSE website — bseindia.com.  Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on November 4 on account of Diwali and on November 5 due to Diwali Balipratipada. The stock markets will observe a holiday on November 19 on the occasion of Gurunanak Jayanti. As a result of the stock market holiday, the exchanges will not witness any action in Equity, Derivative, and SLB Segments on these days.

What is Muhurat Trading?

Even as the market remains closed on the day of Diwali, the ‘Muhurat trading’ is organized for one hour. Muhurat trading is considered as auspicious stock market trading on Diwali (Deepawali). The trading will happen between 6.15 PM and 7.15 PM.

The trading community has followed this old ritual for ages as Diwali marks the beginning of the New Year. The muhurat trading on this day is believed to bring wealth and prosperity throughout the year.

Timings of Muhurat trading

Muhurat trading session on NSE will start at 6:15 and close at 7:15 pm this Diwali. The special trading window opens based on the Hindu Panchang that marks the beginning of a new Samvat or Samvat 2078 -- the Hindu calendar year. The new year starts with Diwali.

Stock market holidays in November 2021

There will be three market holidays in November 2021. Apart from November 4, 5, the stock market will remain closed on November 19 due to Gurunanak Jayanti.
