Mahindra To Inspect, Rectify Over 1.08 Lakh Units Of XUV700 With 3,560 Units Of XUV400

The XUV700 units being recalled for inspection were made in the two years leading to June 2023. Likewise, the XUV400 vehicles for inspection were manufactured from February to June this year.

M&M said, "The inspection and subsequent rectification will be carried out free of cost for all customers, who will be individually contacted by the company."

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Friday announced that it would be conducting inspections and rectification on two models from its XUV product line due to the potential risk associated with abrasion cuts in the wiring loom. The inspections include over 1.08 lakh XUV700 vehicles and 3,560 units of XUV400.

"Mahindra will inspect wiring loom routing in the engine bay of 108306 units of XUV700 manufactured between June 8 2021 to June 28 2023 for a potential risk of abrasion cut of wiring loom. Also, 3560 units of XUV400 vehicles manufactured between February 16, 2023 to June 5, 2023, will be inspected for ineffective spring return action of the brake potentiometer," the Automobile major said in an exchange filing. 

The XUV700 units being recalled for inspection were made in the two years leading to June 2023. Likewise, the XUV400 vehicles for inspection were manufactured from February to June this year.

The company further said, "The inspection and subsequent rectification will be carried out free of cost for all customers, who will be individually contacted by the company. In an endeavour to ensure a hassle-free experience for its customers, the company is proactively carrying out this activity. This action is also in compliance with voluntary code on vehicle recall."

Notably, XUV700 was introduced in India in 2021. Last December, M&M recalled 12,566 XUV700 units produced between July 1 and November 11, 2022, due to a sorting process error affecting rubber bellow clearance. The company also recalled 6,618 Scorpio-N units. 

Another Indian automaker, Maruti Suzuki is recalling 87,599 S-Presso and Eeco models manufactured between July 5, 2021, and February 15, 2023, to replace potentially faulty steering tie rods. The company in July said that a defective steering tie rod part could break, impacting vehicle steerability and handling.
