KMF Hikes Milk Prices By Rs 2 Per Litre, Following Increase In Fuel Prices

Sharing the announcement at a press conference in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Bhima Naik, Chairman, KMF, informed that the effective price of a litre of Nandini milk in Karnataka will now be Rs 44

The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) on Tuesday announced that it is hiking the price of milk for the second time in less than a year. The federation increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, just days after the Karnataka government raised the prices of petrol and diesel in the state.

Sharing the announcement at a press conference in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Bhima Naik, Chairman, KMF, informed that the effective price of a litre of Nandini milk in Karnataka will now be Rs 44. The new prices will be effective from Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

The hike will also end up in the Santrupti milk sachets becoming the most expensive amongst the inventory with the KMF. After the revision in prices, a Santrupti milk sachet will cost Rs 57 per litre, while a milk sachet of Samruddhi will now be priced at Rs 53 per litre in the state. The double toned variety of the milk sachet would be the cheapest option available for customers at Rs 43 per litre, reported The Hindu.

This revision marks the second price hike in under a year for the state. Earlier in July 2023, the Federation increased the prices of milk by Rs 3 per litre. While the federation called for a hike of Rs 5 per litre, the State Government gave its approval for a raise of Rs 3 per litre.

The Federation clarified that it is not increasing the price of milk products and curd in the market. It defended the decision to implement the hike and said that the Federation provided a quantity of 1,050 ml in a milk sachet of 1 litre.
