ICICI Demat Glitch: Share Market Investors Upset After Account Stalled On Wednesday
The website was restarted around 10 a.m., but investors in the stock market who wanted to buy or sell couldn't.
New Delhi: ICICI Demat account patrons were frustrated on Wednesday morning after the apps glitched, obstructing them from trading. In the morning when the stock market was open for trade, they couldn't buy or sell through ICICI Demat. The Demat account holder of ICICI Securities tried to open their accounts it wouldn't.
At the time when the stock market was trading, the app of ICICI Securities read, "Dear customer, ICICIdirect.com will not be available till 10 am on February 9, 2022. We apologize for this inconvenience".

The Twitter handle of ICICIdirect that, "Due to network issues, the customer may face difficulty in accessing the Demat account. We're working to fix it".
Due to an unprecedented network issue, you may face intermittent issues while accessing your ICICIdirect account. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. We sincerely regret the inconveniece caused.

However, there was a lot of resentment among the Demat account holders of ICICI Securities over this technical glitch. People expressed their anger on social media.
SEBI has to investigate. The platform should not be down during trading hours. Very disappointing. The platform should be asked to pay a hefty fine and not onboard new customers for the next 6 months.

Atleast @SEBI_India should follow the footsteps of @RBI and ban @ICICI_Direct from onboarding new customers, just like @rbi ban on @HDFC_Bank till these glitches are fixed.
