Budget 2022: FM Nirmala Sitharaman To Present Union Budget On Feb 1 In Paperless Form

The application, named 'Union Budget Mobile App', will provide access to the complete set of budget documents, the ministry said.

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry on Thursday said that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2022-23 on February 1 in a paperless form. The ministry also said that the Budget will be available on Mobile App after it is presented in Parliament.

The Union Budget of 2021-22 was delivered in paperless form for the first time.

Union Budget Mobile App has been developed by the government in order to provide easy and quick access to Union Budget information to all stakeholders. The App is bilingual, available on both Android & iOS platforms.

The application can be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal - http://indiabudget.gov.in

All Budget documents will also be available for download on Union Budget Web Portal, the Ministry informed. 

In the view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Finance Ministry also decided to distribute sweets were provided to the core staff due to undergo “lock-in” at their workplaces, instead of a customary Halwa ceremony every year.

To maintain the secrecy of Budget documents, there is a "lock-in" of the officials involved in making the annual financial document. All officials in the period leading up to the presentation of the Union Budget are asked to stay in Budget Press building, situated inside North Block.

These officers and staff can meet or contact their near and dear ones only after the Budget is presented by the Union Finance Minister in the Parliament.
