Breaking News: Sensex Rises 1,000 Points, Nifty Trades Over 16,150; Tata Steel Surges 5.5 Per Cent

The BSE Sensex rose 1,003 points to near 54,000-mark, while the broader NSE Nifty climbed above the 16,100-level

New Delhi: The key equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, on Tuesday extended their gains sharply, led by strong momemtum in index heavyweights ITC and Reliance Industries.

The BSE Sensex rose 1,003 points to near 54,000-mark, while the broader NSE Nifty climbed above the 16,150-level.

Tata Steel surged 5.33 per cent to Rs 1,163 on the BSE platform. LIC, which made a debut on Tuesday, listed at Rs 867.20 on the BSE, a discount of 8.6 per cent as against the issue price of Rs 949.
