Andhra News: CM Reddy Announces Rs 10 Lakh Ex Gratia For Families Of Vijayawada Bus Accident Victims

Andhra Pradesh CM Reddy expressed shock over the accident and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of those killed in a bus accident at the Pandit Nehru bus station in Vijayawada on Monday. An Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus rammed into a platform at the bus station.

Chief Minister Reddy expressed shock over the accident and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims. He also ordered the officials to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and provide better medical treatment to the injured. An inquiry has been ordered into the accident.

At least two people died and three others sustained injuries in the incident that occurred this morning when an APSRTC bus crashed into platform no. 12 of the terminus and mowed down people.

The deceased included an 18-month-old girl who sustained injuries and died later at a hospital, as reported by the news agency PTI. According to news agency IANS, police suspect the driver apparently put the first gear instead of the reverse gear, which led to the incident.

In another incident, at least four people died and several others were injured after a bus lost control and fell on the railway track near Dausa Collectorate Circle in Rajasthan's Dausa on Sunday night. Following the incident, all the injured were taken to the hospital. Speaking on the incident, ADM Dausa, Rajkumar Kaswa, said, "After the accident, 28 people were brought to the hospital, of whom 4 are deceased. Doctors are treating the injured.
