Trump praises people of Florida for their 'unbelievable spirit'

Washington [USA] September 15 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump praised the people of Florida for showing an 'unbelievable spirit' at the time of widespread destruction caused by the Hurricane Irma.

"Just left Florida for D.C. The people and spirit in THAT GREAT STATE is unbelievable. Damage horrific but will be better than ever!" Trump tweeted on Thursday.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President Mark Pence reached the Gulf coast of Florida on Thursday to survey the widespread destruction caused by the Hurricane Irma and the relief operations.

"Am leaving now for Florida to see our GREAT first responders and to thank the U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA etc. A real disaster, much work to do! (sic)" Trump tweeted before leaving for Florida.

Speaking to first responders in Florida, Trump thanked them for their work after Irma.

"The job that everybody done is incredible," Trump said. He added that Irma's death toll was a "very small number," considering the power of the storm.

The death toll from Hurricane Irma is at least 24 in the U.S. - that number includes three deaths in Puerto Rico and four deaths in the U.S. Virgin Islands.(ANI)
