Triple talaq bill tabled in Lok Sabha, Congress likely to demand sending it to standing committee

Congress issued a whip to its Lok Sabha MPs to be present in the House today during the discussio on the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2018. On Tuesday, the BJP too had issued a similar order to its MPs asking them to be present in the House for the debate. 
“We will take part in the discussion and keep forward our opinion. We will appeal to the government that it should not interfere in a religious matter. Now whether they want to send it to the standing committee or not is up to them," Congress’ leader Mallikarjun Kharge told leaders outside Parliament.
