Barack Obama has said in his book 'A Promised Land' that he refused to involve Pakistan in the raid on the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden because it was an "open secret" that some elements inside Pakistan's military and especially its intelligence services contacted the Taliban Maintaining and perhaps al- sometimes, using them as strategic assets against Afghanistan and India
