Woman gang-raped inside Police quarter in Puri, accused constable arrested

Another shocking incident of gang-rape has come to light, where a young woman was allegedly gang-raped by an ex-police constable along with his accomplices at a government quarter in Puri, Odisha on Monday. The incident took place when one of the accused, claiming to be a police officer, offered help to the girl who was waiting for the bus at the Nimapara bus terminal to go to her home in the Kakatpur area in Puri district. On the pretext of dropping her home, the police officer took the girl to Puri district and gang-raped her.

Prime accused in the case, ex-constable Jitendra Sethi, has been arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape. Reportedly, Sethi was dismissed from service in February by the then SP of Puri after multiple charges of misconduct were reported against him.

The matter came to light in the evening after the survivor registered a complaint at the Kumbharapada Police Station.
