Nirbhaya Case: Supreme Court dismisses mercy petition of convict Mukesh

Supreme Court dismisses petition (of 2012 Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh) and says there is no merit in the contention, alleged torture can't be a ground, all documents were placed before the President and he had taken them into consideration.
The court observed that the alleged ill-treatment and cruelty in jail is no ground to grant mercy to the convict. Also, Mukesh's counsel's contention that there was non-application of mind while rejecting his mercy petition was rejected by the court.
