Vinesh Phogat Retirement: Mahavir Phogat Promises to Address Vinesh’s Decision | ABP News
Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling on Thursday, following her disqualification from the 50kg category finals at the Paris Olympics 2024 for being 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in. Vinesh made history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the gold medal bout in her category, securing at least a silver medal before her disqualification.
In an emotional post on X, Vinesh expressed her disappointment: "Mother, wrestling defeated me. I lost. Forgive me. Your dream, my courage, everything is shattered. I don't have any strength left now. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024." This marks the end of her illustrious career, which spanned over two decades.
