Thick sheet of snow covers Shimla, Srinagar & Lahaul-Spiti

Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kashmir Valley received snowfall on Saturday, while the western disturbances caused rains in the northern plains. 

Due to snowfall in Kashmir Valley, other roads including Jammu-Srinagar National Highway had to be closed. Moderate to heavy snowfall occurred in many parts of Kashmir Valley on Saturday. After fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, cold wave conditions are also occurring.
