Patna High Court's Big Shock to Nitish Government, 65% reservation ends for EBC, SC & ST | ABP News

Bihar Reservation: Patna High Court has given a big blow to Nitish government regarding reservation in Bihar. The High Court on Thursday (June 20) abolished 65 percent reservation for EBC, SC and ST. Bihar government had increased the reservation limit for Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from 50 percent to 65 percent. Now this decision has been canceled by the High Court. In this case, Patna High Court heard the petition filed by Gaurav Kumar and others. After hearing, the High Court had reserved the decision for March 11, 2024, which was pronounced today. There was a long debate on the petitions of Gaurav Kumar and other petitions in the division bench of Chief Justice KV Chandran. Advocate General PK Shahi argued on behalf of the state government. He had told the court that the state government had given this reservation due to lack of adequate representation of these classes. The state government did not give this reservation on a proportional basis.
