New Criminal Law: What will happen now to the old cases going on on IPC, what problems will have to be faced?
The outdated laws from the British era in India have now been replaced by three new criminal laws. Effective from today, the Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Defense Code, and Indian Evidence Act have supplanted the Indian Penal Code (1860), Code of Criminal Procedure (1973), and Evidence Act (1872). This marks a significant shift in the country's legal framework. The implementation of these new laws aims to modernize and improve the judicial process. From today onwards, new cases will be registered under these revised laws, reflecting the changes in the legal currents. This transition represents a pivotal moment in India's legal history, aiming for a more contemporary and efficient judicial system.
