Mecca Kaba: The Custodian Of The 'Golden Key' Of Kaaba Dies! Who Will Handle The Responsibility Now?
The key of the door of Kaaba remains with Dr. Saleh only. It is believed that the family got this key during the time of Prophet Mohammad and it has been with the family since then. For centuries, the family of Dr. Sahel bin Zainul Abedin has been responsible for keeping this key safe. Dr. Saleh was the 109th heir of the Al Shebi family who was given the responsibility of handling this key. There is only one door to enter Kaaba which is called Bab-e-Kaaba. The Kaaba is at a height of 2.13 meters from the floor of the Haram. This door is located near the north-eastern wall of the Kaaba and is located very close to the black stone from where the Tawaf begins. During Hajj (or Umrah), pilgrims kiss this black stone and then circumambulate the Kaaba in a process called tawaf.
