Lok Sabha Set For First Speaker Election | ABP News
After the ruling NDA bloc announced Om Birla as its candidate for the post of speaker in the Lok Sabha, the Opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc on Tuesday nominated Congress MP K Suresh for the post. He is an eight time MP from Kerala. This comes after the NDA and I.N.D.I.A bloc failed to reach a consensus on Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts. Suresh has filed his nomination.
The election for the post of speaker in the Lower House is set to take place on Wednesday. With K Suresh's nomination for the post, it will be the first time that an election will be held for the speaker post in the Lower House.
