Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: Shivraj Singh Chouhan Returns To Lok Sabha Two Decades Later With Landslide Victory
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, and a five-time Member of Parliament (MP) is all set for his sixth term in the Parliament as he has won the Vidisha constitiuency by a margin of 8,17,479. As per the latest update on the official record shared by the Election Election Commission of India (ECI) on their official website, Chouhan, a four-term CM, has garnered over 10 lakh votes, leading Indian National Congress' (INC) Pratapbhandu Sharma who is reeling under 11 lakh votes.
Notably, Chouhan was at the forefront of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP)'s campaigning as the Chief Minister (CM) of the state during the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Elections in 2023. However, with BJP forming the government in the central Indian state, the 65-year-old was overlooked for another term as the CM, with the party deciding to make Mohan Yadav as the CM.
