Lok Sabha Election 2024: Akhilesh Yadav Faces Tough Battle To Win Back Bastion That Gave SP Parliament Entry | ABP News
The Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency, one among the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies, holds crucial significance for the Samajwadi Party, witnessing a tough contest between Samajwadi Party's Dharmendra Yadav and Bharatiya Janata Party's Dinesh Lal Yadav. Azamgarh has historically been a bastion of the Samajwadi Party, being among the first 18 seats the party won in its inaugural Lok Sabha election in 1996.
In 2019, the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat was won by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Before him, his father and SP founder, Mulayam Singh Yadav, secured victory in the seat against BJP's Ramakant Yadav in 2014. However, the BJP reclaimed the seat during the 2022 by-elections.
