Kolkata Doctor Case: 'This Is A Total Failure Of System & Government,' Says C V Ananda Bose | ABP News
The brutal rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has shocked the entire nation. Medical staff across the country are protesting for better safety measures for doctors. Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government. In an exclusive interview with ABP News, Governor Bose stated that it is very unfortunate that the Kolkata police have not done their job properly, leading to the current situation. He accused the college of being overrun by goons and criticized the lack of action from the government. Governor Bose emphasized that what is needed is action, not protests. He said, "The Chief Minister, who is also the Home Minister, was supposed to take action but failed to do so. The government should act, not just protest. People need to recognize their own power; otherwise, this reign of goons will continue. The doctor was raped and murdered, but the police initially labeled it as suicide. The police seem to want to whitewash the case, which is very concerning. The fundamental rights of people in Bengal are at stake." He further targeted the Mamata Banerjee government, stating, "The failure of the police, the system, and the government in the RG Kar Medical College case will become evident. The truth about this case has been murdered. The day after the incident, I wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asking her to hand the case over to the CBI and tighten security. However, the next day, goons took control. The full responsibility for this lies with Mamata Banerjee. In response, she only sent a letter stating that the case has been handed over to the CBI and security has been increased." On August 14, late at night, some hooligans entered RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and caused significant damage. Governor Bose commented, "Without police complicity, such a crowd of goons could not have entered the RG Kar hospital. It was a chaotic situation that could not have happened without political support. The failure of the police to act will be revealed in the CBI investigation."
