People setting up shops and carts along the Kanwar Yatra routes in Uttar Pradesh have been instructed to display nameplates outside their establishments. A similar directive is now being implemented in Uttarakhand. Haridwar SSP Pramendra Doval has announced that efforts are underway to ensure that nameplates are put up for restaurants, shops, and roadside stalls along the Kanwar Marg. Opposition to the measure has come from various figures, including SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, BSP Supremo Mayawati, and now senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. The controversy underscores growing discontent with the UP Police's approach to managing the Kanwar Yatra.
