Security forces engaged in a shootout with terrorists in Kulgam on Saturday, leading to injuries for three army personnel and one policeman, all of whom have been hospitalized. This encounter occurs in the context of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which are being held for the first time in a decade. The Kulgam and Devsar constituencies participated in the initial phase of voting on September 18, with the final phase scheduled for October 1. According to a post from the Indian Army on X, the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence, involving a collaboration between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Arigam, Kulgam. While conducting the search, terrorists began firing indiscriminately, prompting a return of fire. The operation is still ongoing.
