On Thursday, a group of Congress leaders visited the violence-stricken Jahangirpuri, but were prevented from proceeding to the area where the North MCD had undertaken an anti-encroachment drive the day before by the police. Former federal minister Ajay Maken and AICC in-charge of the state unit Shaktisinh Gohil were among the members of the Congress delegation. Maken told reporters that the drive was an attack on the poor and their means of livelihood, and that it was carried out in violation of the regulations.
