I.N.D.I.A Bloc Nominates K Suresh As Lok Sabha Speaker Candidate | ABP News
After the ruling NDA bloc announced Om Birla as its candidate for the position of Lok Sabha Speaker, the Opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc on Tuesday nominated K Suresh for the post. Suresh, an eight-time MP from Kerala, has filed his nomination. This development follows the NDA and I.N.D.I.A bloc's failure to reach a consensus on the Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts.
The election for the Speaker of the Lower House is set to take place on Wednesday. With K Suresh's nomination, this will be the first time an election is held for the Speaker post in the Lower House.
Earlier in the day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated Om Birla as its candidate for the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. He is scheduled to file his nomination papers at 11:30 AM.
