Gorakhpur: Rising Water Levels Of Rapti River Pose Disaster for Village Residents | ABP News
Gorakhpur's southern Baharampur village is submerged in floodwaters due to the havoc caused by the Rapti River. Homes of the residents have been flooded, and shops are submerged. The most affected are school-going children, who now rely on boats to reach their schools as the village paths are underwater. Some boats carry 4 schoolchildren, others up to 5, including both primary and high school students. Despite these challenges, children persist in their journey to school and back home daily via boats. This situation has persisted for the past 15 days, raising questions about the administration's preparedness. Residents wonder why no concrete measures are in place to prevent annual floods and ensure safe passage for children to school.
