Several parts of the country are receiving heavy rains, raising water levels in rivers beyond dangerous limits and posing a significant flood threat. In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the situation remains grim with the meteorological agency warning of flash floods. Many low-lying areas in West Bengal's sub-Himalayan region are reeling from flood-like conditions, with heavy rains expected to continue until July 12 in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, and Alipurduar.
In Bihar, major rivers are flowing above the danger level in several places due to continuous heavy rain in the eastern parts of the country. Assam is also severely affected, with 29 districts experiencing severe floods. In Uttarakhand, heavy rains have triggered landslides, blocking the highway to Badrinath at several points. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued a group of 25 people stranded in Banbasa due to the heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, cities in Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan are also grappling with severe flooding, further highlighting the widespread impact of the monsoon rains across the country.
