Explained: Why did WB's Mamata Banerjee govt deny to slash VAT on fuel?

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared that there would be no reduction in fuel prices in the state. She attacked the Narendra Modi government and said that they increased fuel prices for two years in a row and then slashed the prices just before UP elections 2022. Mamata Banerjee claimed that the Modi government made a profit of around Rs. 400,000 crores with an increase in fuel prices.
