Chhattisgarh Village Faces Acute Water Crisis; Locals Trudge Miles To Fetch Water In Scorching Heat
Amid the ongoing heatwaves all over the country, villagers of Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh are facing an acute water crisis. People of Gram Panchayat Sonbarsa are finding it difficult to get drinking water as many villagers are dependent on rivers and crevices to fulfill their daily water needs. Villagers have to trudge through a long road to fetch water.
Speaking about the water crisis, a local said, “We haven’t got any facilities from the administration. Tap is there but we get very dirty water from that. We face difficulties in the monsoon season.”
SDM Manendragarh Lingraj Sidar said, “I have got to know about the situation in Sonbarsa recently. There people drink the lake’s water. We will try to solve the problem of water scarcity as soon as possible.”
