Senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor will face an election for the post of party president on Monday and after 24 years in the Congress, someone from outside the Nehru-Gandhi family will be elected.

More than 9,000 representatives of Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) will elect the new president of the party through a secret ballot.

Voting would also take place at the AICC headquarters here and at over 65 polling booths across the country in an electoral contest that is taking place for the sixth time in the party's 137-year history.
