Bangladesh Crisis: All Party Meeting Ongoing Amid Violence In Bangladesh | ABP News
On Tuesday, the central government convened an all-party meeting to discuss the current situation in Bangladesh. During the meeting, the central government provided information about its stance on Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina. The opposition also expressed agreement with the government's position. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha who was present at the meeting, raised questions to the central government. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi inquired about both the immediate and long-term strategies concerning the situation. He also asked if there was any foreign involvement behind the recent events in Bangladesh. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the meeting on behalf of the government, stating that the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in Bangladesh. He also mentioned that a Pakistani diplomat had posted a profile picture related to the movement on social media, which is currently under investigation. Following the violence and protests in Bangladesh over reservations, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her position as Prime Minister. After the government’s collapse, she arrived in India but has sought political asylum in the United Kingdom. Until the UK grants her asylum, Sheikh Hasina will remain in India. The Indian government granted her interim stay permission on Monday following the fall of her government. The central government informed the all-party meeting that it is keeping a close watch on the situation in Bangladesh. The government also noted that there are currently 12,000 to 13,000 Indians in Bangladesh, but the situation is not dire enough to warrant evacuation of its citizens. Of the 20,000 people who were stranded, 8,000 students have already returned to India.
