Army News: Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi will be the next Chief of the Army Staff | ABP News

The Centre on Tuesday appointed Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, who is serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff, a government statement said. Lt. General Dwivedi will assume the charges on June 30, while General Manoj C Pande, the present Chief of the Army Staff, will demit the office on the same day. Born on July 1, 1964, Dwivedi was commissioned into the Infantry (Jammu & Kashmir Rifles) of the Army in December 1984. "During his long and distinguished service spanning nearly 40 years, he has served in a variety of Command, Staff, Instructional and Foreign appointments," a government statement said.
