40 police companies deployed in Karnal ahead of Kisan Mahapanchayat

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, has threatened to lay siege to the Karnal mini-secretariat today if its demands were not met.  Earlier on August 28, the Haryana Police had lathicharged a group of farmers disrupting traffic movement on a national highway while heading towards Karnal to protest against a BJP meeting. Mobile internet services will be suspended from 12:30 pm on Monday to Tuesday midnight to stop the spread of misinformation on social media. Forty companies of security personnel, including 10 companies of central paramilitary forces, have been deployed in the district.
