Surge In Cancer Rates Among The Younger Generations | Health Live
A recent study published in Landsat Public Health highlights alarming trends in cancer rates across generations in the U.S., showing a significant increase in 17 cancer types. Individuals born in 1990 exhibit two to three times higher rates of certain cancers compared to those born in 1955. This rise emphasizes the need to understand contributing factors such as obesity, dietary changes, and environmental toxins. In India, the Delhi State Cancer Institute reports a shift in colon cancer to adults aged 31 to 40, rather than those over 50. For children aged 0 to 14, lymphoid leukemia is the leading cancer, comprising 29.2% of cases in boys and 24.2% in girls. By 2025, cancer incidence in India is expected to rise by 12.8% from 2020. Dr. Bubber from SK Hospital recommends managing cancer risk through a balanced diet, hydration, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and limiting processed foods, salt, and sugar. Maintaining a healthy weight is also crucial.
