Outbreak Alert : Marburg Virus Emerges As A Global Threat: Two Cases Confirmed In Ghana | Health Live
The Marburg virus poses a significant threat to the world, similar to COVID-19. While we were familiar with coronaviruses, the emergence of COVID-19 had a severe impact globally. Similarly, the Marburg virus is closely related to the Ebola virus, but currently, there are no treatments or vaccines available for it, just as there weren't for COVID-19 initially. Alarmingly, the Marburg virus is an infectious disease that can spread from animals to humans, particularly through contact with infected creatures like bats. Until this year, there were no reported cases worldwide. However, two cases have been confirmed in Ghana, as reported by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). This development raises concerns about the potential spread of the virus in the region.
