Multiple Personalities In One Body: Understanding Dissociative Identity Disorder | Health Live
Mel Lodge, a teacher from Wellington, New Zealand, lives with 50 different personalities, each of which she considers a part of her body. Every hour of the day, a different personality takes control. On TikTok, Mel shared her story to raise awareness about Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), but many labeled her a fraud. According to a Mirror report, Mel was diagnosed with DID at the age of 26. Her therapist has met most of the personalities during therapy, and she learned that 50 different identities reside within her. DID, also known as Multiple Personality Disorder, occurs when a person develops multiple identities, often as a coping mechanism for trauma. Unlike exaggerated portrayals in films, these personalities form to handle trauma, not necessarily to cause harm.
