Devendra Fadnavis govt to meet Maratha reservation demand
Maharashtra government has started showing signs of intent of granting reservations in jobs and educational institutions to Marathas; the demand which they have been pressing from last few days.
In a meeting called by Chief Minister at Education Minister Vinod Tawde on late Thursday evening, a decision has been taken that both BJP and Fadnavis government will extend support to Maratha reservation issue.
During the meeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that his government was making "sincere" and "serious" efforts to grant reservations for the Maratha community in the state.
"Some Maratha leaders are trying to get political mileage from the quota stir," he claimed and exhorted BJP workers to ensure masses get to know about the government's efforts to bring about reservations.
Fadnavis was speaking at a meeting of the party's spokespersons at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini in Bhayander in neighbouring Thane district.
He said that spokespersons were an important link between the government, the party and the people.
"Its their job to ensure that the good work being done by the government reaches the people," he added.
As per sources, the government is likely to call another meeting on the issue on Saturday, where an attempt will be made to find a solution to the issue.
