Cyclone Fani: 11 lakh people evacuated to shelter home in Paradeep

More than 11 lakh people have been evacuated from the vulnerable districts in last 24 hrs.  More than 3 lakh were evacuated from Ganjam, it said. At least 1.3 lakh people have been evacuated from Puri and given shelters, it added. About 5,000 kitchens started operating to serve people in the shelters. 
Cyclone Fani -- also pronounced as FONI is being regarded as the most severe cyclonic storm since the super cyclone of 1999 that claimed close to 10,000 lives and left a trail of destruction in vast swathes of the state, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre.
